Ranger' Station Project
Through your generous donations to the C.P. Dunne Foundation, a team of volunteers constructed a 'Ranger's Station' located at the entrance of Breakheart Reservation. Besides keeping the rangers safe and dry during inclement weather, it will make the area more user friendly and provide information to returning visitors and newcomers alike. The large green door allows accessible entry and the large windows give Ranger's excellent visibility to the entrance of the 600 acre park where families, walkers and pets can enjoy year round. The outdoor lighting and flowered window boxes add an attractive touch to this pine covered 'Ranger's Station'. Located close to the Christopher P. Dunne visitors Center, the Ranger's Station makes an attractive addition to Breakheart Reservation.
Got Books Project
What is GOT BOOKS? Visitors at Breakheart Reservation are aware of the gray container with the purple and yellow lettered signs Got Books and Donate Books. This is a location where you can donate books, CD's, Tapes, and records which the foundation receives revenue for every pound gathered. The revenue from this project, in addition to the revenue from the vending machines outside of the visitor center, is used to fund projects such as the 'Ranger's Station' and handicap ramps (see upcoming article). Anyone can drive up and deposit books. The foundation will also come to your house or business to pick up books, CD's, Tapes and records if you contact us at 781-662-8520. Come down to Breakheart, drop off your books and take a nice autumn walk around the marked trails. Make sure to say hello to Coco, Bill, Maria and the rest of the rangers on your visit.
