The Foundation arraigned a great Holiday get together at Breakheart Reservations Visitors Center in Saugus Massachusetts. Over 40 people attended on a cold night to enjoy holiday music, food and fun around a huge fireplace in the toasty warm facilities. Some of the raffle prizes that were given out to our guests included: 2008 Red Sox Calendar, Christmas night light, 2007 Boston Red Sox World Series Picture, Pink Swarovski Crystal Lucite Necklace and Earrings, $25 Visa Gift Certificate, $10 Blockbuster Gift Certificate, Digital Camera, $25 movie passes, Scuni Wraf Scarf and Patriots Hats and slippers. People took turns flying a radio controlled helicopter, shared laughs and hot chocolate.

One of Chris’s pet peeves was not being able to just hang out with a group of Friends at the same time. It seemed that no place could accommodate the space needed or meet the accessibility requirements to put everyone at ease to be able to just socialize with friends for a night out. A new program was created by the Foundation known as Friendly Connections.

The CPD Foundation in collaboration with the Breakheart Reservation’s CPD Visitor’s Center is proud to be able to facilitate Friendly Connections. This is an informal gathering for young adults with disabilities. A place to have a bite to eat, mingle, laugh and just hang out with friends. The Friendly Connections Group recently met for the second time on Saturday night October 14th at Breakheart Reservation.

Looney Birds

Every winter, I clean out my video and photography closet and a picture fell out of one of the albums. How ironic it was.The picture on the left was taken at the base of Loon Mountain in New Hampshire. On the far left is Chris' brother Brian. Imagine that lad is now in college! Way in the back row smiling is a young Colleen. She is now a school teacher. Just before I threw Chris' mom Cathy off my lap into the fresh fallen snow, someone snapped this picture. Yes, winter brings up some fond memories of the mountains and watching Chris ski down the mountain in adaptive ski equipment.
